Cassie Laelyn

Today I have something special for you! Not only is my interview with another Aussie writer but an award winning author. The first book in the Fallen Guardian Series by Cassie Laelyn is hands down my favorite angel romance.

10 Nosy Questions

Describe your life in a nutshell.

Crazy. I have two BMX-mad boys that keep me on the go all the time! I grew up in a military family, so I moved around a lot as a kid, but a few years ago I finally settled in a small beachside town in sunny Queensland, Australia with my husband and boys. Rigt now, I couldn’t imagine living anywhere more beautiful.

What book do you recommend to everyone – even people who don’t ask?

Kresley Coles Immortals Afer Dark series. I love it. A lot (if that isn’t obvious)!! I devour anything Kresley Cole writes and try to convert everyone I talk to. Have you read Kresley Cole? You should … haha!

Which of your quirks have you written into a character?

I think as authors, there’s a little bit of ourselves in every character we write. Afterall, they live inside our head! In Unforsaken, Tayla writes in a gratitude journal, just like I do. In Unforgotten, Wilow has a love for nature, which I do as well. And EJ drinks to much soda!

Have you written someone who was rude tinto a book so you could get eternal payback?

No. Not yet. But I’ll never say never!!

Which book boyfriend would you run away with?

You said book “boyfriends” right?? Any hero written by Kresley Cole (have you read her books?? Haha!) Here’s my top 5 non-Kresley Cole book boyfriends:

  • Austin Cole (Seven Series by Dannika Dark)
  • Ren Owen (Wicked Series by Jennifer L Armentrout)
  • Revenge and Butch (Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward)
  • Ed Larsen (Repeat by Kylie Scott)
  • Death (The Arcana Chronicles by Kresley Cole) – whoops, one Kresley Cole hero slipped onto the list!

Have you ever taken a book-cation?

I haven’t taken a book-cation, but I did try Grey Goose vodka because it was a character’s favorite drink and I’d never tried it!! Now … it’s my favorite vodka too! Ha!

What Fandom do you geek out over?

I don’t really geek out over much. I do like to buy signed paperbacks from my favorite authors when I can – does that count? If I find a series I love though, i’m very loyal and commit the whole way until the end! I would love to collect character pops of my favorite book boyfriends.

Does anyone in your famil read your books? If they do can they look you in the eye at Thanksgiving?

Heaps of my family read my stories, including my grandma! The world is full of love stories and we shouldn’t ever be embarrassed by what we read (or write). Even though my stories include paranormal beings, at the heart they’re a romance. They include strong courageous women who fight for what they believe in, not stand on the sidelines and wait for a man to rescue them. My heros are fiercely protective, intense, loyal and a little broken, but beneath all that they’re gentlemen who know how to treat a woman with the respect she deserves. Everyone deserves love and a happily ever after.

How many more stories are rattling around in your brain trying to get out?

Many! I have loads of stories rattling around in my brain for the Fallen Guardians – which character will be next, what the baddie is up to etc. But I also have a few other characters that have stepped free from the shadows to say hi. Some of them i’d really like to write very soon…

What did you have the most fun with in your last novel?

In Unforgotten, I had fun making Aric show his romantic side. Yes, he has one! He’s the hot-headed, tough guy of the group, but when it comes to his soulmate, he turns into a mushy romantic! I also enjoyed exploring different realms in this novel – the characters don’t just spend thier time in the mortal realm.

Unforgotten by Cassie Laelyn released February 26, 2020

Fate offers no mercy. Especially not to those who betray her.

Lethal Guardian Aric’s loyalty never falters. Not even when Fate exiled him and his brothers from the Heavens, separating Aric from his soulmate. He’ll do anything to reunite with her. But when Willow suddenly appears in the mortal realm, Aric’s greatest fear comes true – she’s no longer the angel he left behind.

Since Aric abandoned her, the Heavens have become Willow’s personal Hell. Centuries of bitterness and hurt is a toxic combination. It even affects her angelic powers. When a Fallen offers Willow a chance to escape, she accepts. But shunning her connection to the Heavens comes at a cost.

In a twisted battle of loyalty, trust, and hope what price will two soulmates pay for a second chance at love?
